The Gospel

  • There is one God who has created everything that has ever existed.
"For this is what the Lord says - he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited - he says: "I am the Lord, and there is no other." ISAIAH 45:18
  • God created us - humans - and we became his most important creation.
"God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground..." GENESIS 1:28
  • We turned our backs on God and disobeyed God's rules. (We have sinned)
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." 1 JOHN 1:8
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." ROMANS 3:23
  • Because we have sinned, we will die and face judgment from God for our actions.
"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books." REVELATION 20:11-12
  • If we are judged guilty of breaking God's law, we will be thrown out of God's presence, and left alone forever.
"If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." REVELATION 20:11-12
  • But we meant too much to God. And so God became man through his Son, and lived on this Earth as Jesus Christ.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." JOHN 3:16
  • Jesus Christ lived on this Earth for thirty-three years, and performed many miracles and taught us many things about living as God's creations.
"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." JOHN 21:25
  • When Jesus was thirty-three, he was killed by being hung on a cross. During his death, he took all our sins and erased them.
"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" ROMANS 5:6-9
"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." HEBREWS 8:12
  • If we ask God, we can have the gift of peace, friendship, and adoption with God, for our sins have been forgiven!
"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." ROMANS 10:9
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." ROMANS 10:13
  • By calling on the name of Christ, we will have our names written in Heaven and we will experience eternity with God.
"I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. " REVELATION 21:22-27
